The IRDAI Insurance Agent Licence Renewal Rules changed under the Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Act, 2025, effective February 5, 2026. Earlier, insurance intermediaries had to renew their licences every three years.
Under the new rules, perpetual registration has been introduced for brokers, corporate agents, insurance marketing firms, and web aggregators, removing the need for renewal every three years.
However, intermediaries must pay an annual fee to keep their registration active and continue following all applicable IRDAI regulations and compliance requirements.
